I was so quickly brought back to Junior High School in the reading of this graphic novel it was a little dizzying.
Callie wants to be part of her school production of Moon over Mississippi, but her inability to sing puts her firmly in the backstage category. Callie really wants her sets to make a splash, but on a middle-school budget and with no carpentry skills Callie is struggling.
Of course everything would be simpler if Callie’s personal life wasn’t just as trying.
Enter a cute set of brothers, and Callie’s whole world is turned upside down as she stumbles through friendships, crushes, and life.
For the second time Raina Telgemeier captures the very essence of elementary-junior high… for lack of a better word… drama.
